Crime against Men |

As the world shows outrage even for petty issues of women, the grievous crime against men often go unnoticed. So I thought of checking out how much crime does each gender face. I have chosen murder as the criteria of comparison as the data across the world is available for both genders. I took data from website of United nations office of drug and crime https://www.unodc.org
I took the percentage of male and female intentional homicide victims by country/territory (latest available year) and compared 195 countries on the parameter of male & female victims of murder. It was surprising to find majority of countries are unsafe for male population as male victims of murder outnumber the female victims to a large extent. You can make it out easily from the bar chart. The high amount of red area show that male victims (shown in red ) are more than the female victims (shown in green) .
I have also indexed the list of countries as per the number of male victims, ranking the country with lower male victims on top. Countries like Japan, New Zealand and Switzerland are safe for men. While countries like Greece, Venezuela and Brazil are highly unsafe for men.
To my surprise USA which is considered to be a safe country stands with the bottom 40% countries at 118th spot in this Index of crime against men along with country like Zambia. In fact Pakistan too scored better than USA and stood at 107.
Following is the entire index I derived from the data

The above comparison did change my views about ability of so called developed countries to ensure safety of the male population. I decided to check for data over a larger duration to eliminate false positives. So I took average data of percentage of male victims of homicide from 2008 to 2012.
Since the data from 2008 to 2012 was not available for all the countries used in my previous index had to limit my data to 78 country / territories. Below is the graph representing that data |
In average data of homicide too, I found that USA stood among the bottom 39% at 49th position, among 77 nation in decreasing crime against men. So the performance of USA in reducing crime against men as not improved over the years.
Following is the index I derived from the data of average percentage of male & female homicide victims to arrive at how the safe country is in terms of reducing crime against men.
With elections coming up at many places, men should check the score of their country and vote only for the politicians who promise to take concrete steps to reduce crime against men. People may send letters to politicians warning them about loss of vote if they neglect crime against men. One example of such letter from male voter is on this link http://lifenstory.com/men_vote_for_men_rights/One should continuously be highlighting the situation of males victims, as they are often neglected under the clamor of feminist’s drumming up minor incidents on female to create mountain out of a mole.
